Ok, this jorunal is more for information purposes than news but I've been noticin things have been kinda slow around here. [yes, there's only a few members but still..]
So if you know of any other dexers on DA spread the word!

Welcome to the DXM club!

Never heard of it?
Dextromethorphan is a powerful legal dissociative found in most cough syrups and other cough suppressants.
It's in the dissociative family with ketamine and PCP.
In it's purest form, DXM is a very nasty tasting white powder.
Psychedelic effects begin somewhere over 120mg.
The lethal dose is 20-30 mg/kg.
This drug has been around recreationally for roughly 30 years.
When taken recreationally the trip usually lasts around 5-6 hours, including the come-up, peak and come-down.

It isn't physically addictive but can very easily be mentally addictive.
Although there have been a few users who have experienced physical withdrawal, it's very rare.
Sadly however, frequent unresponsible use does adjust your body to it.
This means if you do 400mgs every day, by the end of one or two weeks, that doseage won't have an effect at all so BE RESPONSIBLE!

DXM is best taken orally. Smoking DXM has a reaction in the air that turns it into ammonia so I wouldn't reccomend it.
Shooting up is dangerous and snorting has little to no effects.


DXM is most common in two forms:
Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide (or HBR)

or

Dextromethorphan Polistirex

DXM HBR is more commonly used since it has stronger effects.
Polistirex is not as strong and takes longer to kick in.
It's also been said that it's impossible to hallucinate on DXM polistirex.
The reason for this is when you take DXM, it turns into DXO in your bloodstream and that's what you trip on.
DXM Polistirex produces a much lower count of DXO when taken orally.

DXM comes in plateaus, and all 4 plateaus have different effects.

• 1st Plateau: 1.5-2.5 mg/kg
This is the weakest level. This feels slightly intoxicating, a little light headed. Some music euphoria is noticable

• 2nd Plateau: 2.5-7.5 mg/kg
This level is often compared to being stoned and drunk at the sametime. When this might seem true, there is also a noticably strong "mental" high also. You can have trouble talking with slurring, and can have a hard time carrying on an indepth conversation, because your short-term memory can be temporarily impared. And occasionally you can have mild hallucinations.

• 3rd Plateau: 7.5-15 mg/kg
This level has strong intoxications and hallucinations. Things can become very confusing as your thinking processes are disturbed. You can sometimes daze-off into your own world, and get lost in your own mind. Trips in this plateau can sometimes be unpleasant.

• 4th Plateau: +15 mg/kg
This is the strongest level. This is a sub-anesthetic dose, and can be compared to a high dose of Ketamine. Your mind and body become seperated at this level and it can become dangerous psychologically, and physically. Many say that you should never have to go this high.
Again, don't go near 20mgs/kg since that is the lethal dose.

:!:NOTE
When taking cough suppresants, Dextromethorphan should be the ONLY main ingredient.
Other active ingredients can either send you into a coma, make you puke your guts out, or give you seizures.
Pseudoephedrine will speedy up your trip but don't do too much [no higher than 2nd plateau if pseudoephedrine's another active ingredient] because it'll give you heart palpitations and DXM already makes your heart race pretty fast.

Some drugs you shouldn't mix with DXM:

• phentermine, fenfluramine, phen-fen (diet drugs)

• fluoxetine, tricyclics and lithium (SSRI antidepressants)

• terfenadine (SeldaneTM - prescription antihistamine), & possibly other non-drowsy antihistamines, such as ClaritinTM and HisminalTM

• antidepressants Desyrel (trazodone) & Serzone (nefazodone)

• SSRIs such as bupropion (WellbutrinTM)

• cigarettes

• MDMA (extacy)

• opiates

• MAOIs

Just so you take into account, DXM is bad for your health.

Mild Hyperthermia (Increased Temperature)
Overexertion
Urticaria (skin rash/wheal)
Increased Bile Secretion
Inappropriate Behaviour

Serious Hyperthermia (High Temperature)
Serious Hypertension (High Blood Pressure)

NMDA Antagonist Neurotoxicity (Olney's Lesions)
Cerebral Hemorrhage and Stroke
Other Neurotoxicity Mechanisms

Violent Ideations, Antisocial Behaviour, and Paranoia
Memory Impairment
Language Impairment
Weight Loss
Loss of Muscle Control
Habituation and Psychological Addiction
Tolerance and Physical Addiction
Psychosis
Liver, Kidney, and Pancreas Damage
Bromide Poisoning


:!: NOTE
The best over the counter source of DXM besides pure powder is Zicam.
It's a throat spray and very concentrated, almost pure DXM.
The horrible taste is acutually the DXM itself.
